Summary:  If $G$ is a compact group, then $\mathcal{C}(G)$ is the unique predual with respect to which the measure algebra $\mathit{M}(G)$ is a dual Banach algebra. In fact, we shall prove a stronger result that even holds for any compact quantum group in the sense of Woronowicz.
